Birthdays!

My little niece, Rachael, celebrated her birthday last week, along with my Mom (her 81st!). I had so much fun making special cards for them. Here's Rachael's... I used the You Rule stamp set that is retired now. It was in the Spring Mini and with little grand daughters, I just had to have it. I embossed the crown, popped it up on dimensionals, and added the bling to it. It really screams Rachael! She's such a little princess! Inside I added washi tape to add just a little color, then had some fun with the words from the stamp set. I stamped some of the words in Raspberry Ripple, then printed between the stamped words. Here's what I wrote (the underlined words were stamped)...Rachael, Happy Birthday ! Everyday you're a Princess , but I declare that today, you are Queen for the Day because You Rule ! Been Too Long!!

I know... it's been too long since I was here last! Life just gets in the way some days. I've been stamping, so it's not that I've given that up, but just haven't taken the time to post the cards and scrapbook pages and blog about them. It's still my favorite way to spend my free time...what little of that I have. I know you can relate, but I'M BACK! The first layout and card that I want to share is one that I saw an owl on a paper piecing web site, and thought how cute that it would be as a card and then as a scrapbook page. I needed a baby shower card, and you know it, the nursery was being decorated in owls! Perfect! So that's where this pattern came into being. I made a special one for my friend, Susan, with a birthday wish and balloons inside. Then, I needed a bunch of thank you cards for my sisters and Mom who sent me an Origami Owl locket, so I thought these would be perfect! This pattern has been put to lots of use already!       ...
