Dry Erase Message Board

Katie has always liked the dry erase message board that I made several years ago and asked if I would make one for her. She wanted hers a little larger (more things to keep track of, I guess) and one that would magnet to the fridge. We found a light weight frame at WalMart that wouldn't be too heavy to stay on the fridge, and some really strong (hard to pull apart!) magnets at the new JoAnn's that just opened here in Elko. Here's my old one:

With mine, it hung on the wall in my kitchen and I had a dry erase marker with Velcro on it to keep it attached to the side. It came from an old pattern that I'd found in a magazine several years ago. I've always loved it for keeping my schedule for the week right in front of my nose. Here's what we came up with for Katie's kitchen:
Ingredients: Stamp Set: Inspired by Nature
Paper: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Regals paper stack
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, VersaMark, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Scallop Edge Border Punch, Pinking Hearts Border Punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Clear block A, Timeless Type Junior Alphabet, Big Shot, Snail Adhesive, Extra strong magnets, sewing machine, picture frame

The frame was 13 x 10.  I cut the Very Vanilla piece 12" x 9" so it has a 1/2" clear boarder around the edge. The clear block was used to stamp a shadow of brown behind the letters, then the page was divided into 7 equal parts and lightly penciled in for following with the sewing machine. The flowers were stamped with the Cherry Cobbler ink, VersaMarked then clear embossed and cut out. After stamping the grass with Always Artichoke and attaching the flowers, I used my sewing machine and a Crumb Cake colored thread to sew between the letters to divide each day. We removed the hanger from the back of the frame and added the magnets with some Super Glue and stuck it on the fridge:


As you can see, we already have it filled up for the week. A busy week with lots to do!
This was a pretty easy project to do and what a beautiful way to know what's going on for the week!
As you can see, stamping is not just for cards!

Work, work, and more work, leaves little time for playing! As a new teacher this year, I'm spending a lot of time coming up with new ideas and ways to share ideas with kids. I'm loving every minute of it, but it leaves little time for stamping! I have done several classes and have done a little bit of stamping, but not near enough! My fingers are itching to get back at it! Here's a couple of samples of things that I've gotten done...   This one is masked, shaded and then unmasked and stamped with the leaves. Simple design, but fun to do and makes a great guy card...which as you know, can be hard to come up with! I made these with my scrapbook group on Wednesday night, and they loved them! I stamped a leaf in the corner, and then one on the outside of the envelope too. This one I've done before, but just love the design and the technique! Scrapbook on the Walls

I love to scrapbook too! I put a lot of time into the pages I create, and have found that scrapbook frames are a great way to scrapbook on the walls and be able to enjoy those creations before adding them to a book.  I have been working on a gift for my daughter-in-law, whose birthday was last week. I finally finished it yesterday and I'm really excited to get it mailed to her. I used the Six Sided Sampler stamp set, stamped them with the stitched hexagon on scraps of Designer Series Paper in Early Espresso, then dabbed each side on the ink pad to add the dark edge to them. The flowers are cut from the Floral Fusion Sizzlit, also shaded, curled a little to give them some shape and added with a dimensional. Love, love, love the new Expressions Thinlits Dies from the Holiday Catalog! I can see that I will be using them a lot for scrapbook pages and for cards! Pearls, iridescent embossing on the butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri set add a little bling to the page. Matching pun

Thank You!

I've been able to make lots of thank you cards this summer. You see, I've been diagnosed with breast cancer, and through the process, I've had some very kind and giving people. It has humbled me greatly to hear the number of people that are praying for me, and knowing that each prayer is brought before our Mighty King and He hears and answers each one. It makes me very grateful! It has been a different summer than what we had planned, that's for sure! Chemo has not been kind some days, and then other days, I feel "normal" and back to myself again...except for no hair! I'm getting used to wearing hats and scarves, though I still can't get used to the people that look at me like I have something missing. I just try to smile and not let it bother me. Maybe they'll figure it out, and then maybe not.Thank you for the support and love I have felt from my family and friends! I know that I don't fight this battle alone and I cherish each one of you!
