Reinker Float technique
We've had so much fun at our card and scrapbooking classes learning new techniques that can be used for scrapbook pages or for cards. I want to share the card we made at our class, plus the scrapbook page that I finished up this weekend using the same technique. First the card...
Pool Party is one of my favorite colors and each flower turned out unique. To do the reinker float, stamp an outline image with White Craft Ink, emboss with clear embossing powder on Shimmery White Paper. The Shimmer paper is thicker and will take the water that you put on it better than regular card stock. Spray the image when it's cooled with water so that it puddles on the paper, then pick up colors of reinker and dab on the water. We used Pool Party, Island Indigo, and a touch of Peach Parfait ink refills and the flower image from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set and the Fabulous Florets stamp set for the leaves. The water will run the colors together and create a beautiful water colored look to your image. The trick to this technique is to not overdo it...dab the color on and let it sit and dry without touching it. You can spray it with a little more water if it gets too dry and the colors aren't spreading, but just drop the brush once the color is on and let it dry or dry it with the heat tool. When it's dry, just cut out the image. This is one of my favorite techniques!
Then here's the scrapbook page that I finished up this weekend. We used the same technique on the flowers and everyone chose their own colors and stamp sets to use. Each one turned out unique and so beautiful. I can't wait to see the finished pages with the pictures!
What's hard to see in these pictures, is the writing that I did with the Pool Party marker. Under each name is the meaning of their names, and under the word life in the title, is Hebrew in parenthesises. The meaning of Evelyn is Life in Hebrew.
You can see the great colors that the reinker technique gives to the flowers.
For the journaling on the page, I had Larry write down some memories of his Mom for the girls to read and remember her by. What a special gift to hand down to them! This is one of my favorite pages, and really the reason that I scrapbook...to be able to hand those memories down to my grandchildren. They are such precious blessings!
Happy Scrapin'!
